Intel has a strong presence at “Privacy Week,” taking place in Jerusalem, Israel this week in conjunction with the OECD conference on the 30th anniversary of the OECD Privacy Guidelines and the 32nd International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners. The conference brings together several thousand data protection authorities, corporate privacy professionals, and academics to discuss the leading privacy policy and enforcement issues.
Intel’s Director of Security Policy and Global Privacy Officer David Hoffman spoke to the conference on how Intel is fostering innovation in privacy protection. Intel has been a strong proponent of businesses incorporating privacy protections into the technological design process. We are also discussing the privacy and security policy issues that are presented as more and more household and personal devices become connected to the Internet.
In conjunction with the conference, Intel led a tour of our chip fabrication facility (“fab”) in Kiryat Gat, Israel. Several privacy regulators who joined the tour were able to see in person how Intel’s microprocessors are manufactured and hear about the incredible innovation and research that goes into producing our products. Intel Architecture Group Vice President Alex Peleg also spoke about the large tech industry in Israel and the key role that Intel’s Israel facility has played in the history of our company.
Intel views a strong privacy regulatory system as a key element of furthering technological innovation, and we are glad to participate in Israel’s “Privacy Week” events.
